Sriracha Hot Sauce

Sriracha hot sauce is a smooth, red paste made from garlic, sugar, salt, vinegar and sun-ripened chili peppers native to Thailand. Thai pepper hot sauce tends to have a more sweet and spicy flavor than a hot flavor with a smooth texture. Like Louisiana hot sauce, it can be used more as a condiment for Thai dishes such as pho, than for specialty or gourmet cooking.

American cuisine usually includes Sriracha hot sauce to add some tangy flavor to foods such as French fries and pizza as well as popcorn and Buffalo wings. However, Thai chili sauce is also used for casseroles, soups and entrée dishes in some Thai-American and American households.

Sriracha hot sauce is largely known to be a staple for spice enthusiasts more so than a novelty or gourmet specialty gift. This sauce has a large number of fans, especially those who love garlic, and has found its way from the seaside city of Si Rancha in Thailand to Thai grocery stores and into American chain grocery stores as well.
